Cross-reference

If an object points to another object, this is called the reference of one object to another. It is also called an object referencing another object. For example, in an order the ordering customer is specified, the order object references the customer object.

In ClassiX® many of these references are also expressed as so-called back references, i.e. if one object points (references) to another, the referenced object itself points back to the first one. E.g. a company object refers to all its roles (customer, supplier, etc.), each of these roles itself points back to the company object.

For performance reasons, not all references are defined as back references in ClassiX®, i.e. one does not know a priori about an object, which all others refer to this object.

For this purpose, however, a so-called cross-reference database can be created, which shows all references to each other for all objects.
